McCutchen Friends Home

A Caring Community for Seniors

Founded in 1951

 Apartments...Residential Assisted Care...Nursing Home

McCutchen Friends Home is a small, quiet retirement community located in the Historic District of North Plainfield. We are in a residential neighborhood surrounded by well-kept Victorian homes and one block from the public library. Our beautifully landscaped, two-acre campus contains a gazebo, koi pond, many specimens of flowering shrubs, magnificent trees and lovely gardens everywhere!

About 50 residents call this “home.” We offer a range of care and services in our three types of living accommodations. Nurses are on the premises 24 hours a day and available for all residents.
No entrance fees are required; however, McCutchen Friends Home does not participate in the Medicare and Medicaid programs. Owned and operated under the care of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers), we welcome residents from all faiths.

A gracious style of living is offered at McCutchen Friends Home. We have a Holiday Open House and formal teas in the winter, garden picnics in the summer, fall and spring brunches and ice-cream socials

Activities include exercise programs, bingo, cooking classes, craft projects, discussion groups, educational seminars, musical entertainment and weekly religious services provided by local clergy.

We have many volunteers, including children from nearby schools, scouts and community groups. Parakeets, tropical fish and visiting dogs and cats provide animal companionship.

Residents enjoy excursions in our McCutchen van (equipped with a wheelchair lift) to area attractions such as the theater, museums, the mall and restaurants.

Would you like a cup of tea?
